Happy Birthday Ivy!!

Wow! My little girl turned 4 years old today! Since we weren't allowed to have her party or anything to do with her birthday today, all we did was weigh and measure her for posterity and take her birthday picture. Oh...and fixed "birthday" pancakes that everyone BUT Ivy ate. She wanted Cheerios. They weren't anything fancy, just regular pancakes...perhaps if I put whipped cream and chocolate chips on them she might have wanted them instead...but would that have counted as celebrating? We were prohibited (seriously) from birthday festivities because Kim is flying home this Saturday and she is tired of missing all of Ivy's birthdays since she is in the Army. In fact this is the first time she'll be home for Ivy's birthday. I know it hurts Kim to be so far away from her Peanut and Potato (her nicknames for Ivy and Riley...don't ask me where she got them!) and to miss their pre/school years, but we are so very proud of her for serving her country! I do believe that is the best present Ivy will get on Sunday...her auntie home for her birthday party!

What a turkey! She just learned to cross her eyes but I
managed to catch her between giggles about screwing up
the pictures! This was picture number 5!

She wanted Cheerios for her birthday breakfast...
the same thing she eats everyday!

At least Riley ate the pancakes!

Ivy's cheesy smile

What a hansome little boy!

Also on a side note...it is a momentous occasion...I finally finished the 2005 Disneyland scrapbook! I was hoping to have it finished by the time Kim gets here and I did it! Yippee! And with a day to spare! Phew!

Bizarre things...

Did you ever say something to your kids that you'd never thought you'd have to say? Just words that are so bizarre they really shouldn't be in the same sentence together? Like...

"Don't rub your cheese on the fish tank."

In all fairness when I said this to Ivy, she was not trying to make a gooey cheese smear on the fish tank, but rather share her cheese with her new Goldfish. That, of course, went into a brief explanation of what fish really eat and that didn't include cheese. Good thing she wasn't trying to share her goldfish crackers...cannibals!

"Don't drive your car through your spit."

Yup. Actually said that one today. As I sat here at the table on the laptop looking at our bank statement, Riley climbed up in the chair next to me and proceeded to drool (I know he did it on purpose cuz he was blowing raspberries on the table top, watching the puddle grow larger...) then when the pool was of suffient size, took his favorite little yellow Camero Hot Wheels car and drove it straight through the flood. This was followed by his evil baby laugh...Bwha ha ha ha!

Finally...

Well, it's finally happened. I have a blog. Frightening, I know. Everyone I know (from childhood mostly) has a blog with pictures of their cute little families...so I guess I had better get with it and make one too. Even though almost all my family and half of John's lives here in Arizona, I hope this will be a great opportunity to keep in touch with Kim at Ft. Campbell, KY and hopefully reconnect with my cherished childhood friends. Now...off we go into our crazy but exciting world.
